A Modern Twist to a Autumn Day

We recently worked with a wonderful couple, Katrina and Chris, who chose the color palette of deep purple and rich sangria tones with accents of gold.  The Bride, also a designer, knew she wanted to use lots of lush textures and sparkle with a modern twist.  Her choice of floral and decor was perfect for their ceremony venues, the beautiful Oliver Mansion Gardens with the reception taking place in the Double Tree Ballroom.

Katrina carried a gorgeous slant bouquet featuring all white and ivory floral.  The design included hydrangea, garden roses, dendrobium florets, and white spray roses.  The flowers created a slight cascade that was absolutely stunning in the intimate garden setting.

The Bridesmaids carried round bouquets featuring mix tones of purple, sangria, and green.  The floral included deep purple stock, burgundy gladiola florets, bells of Ireland loops, and deep blue viburnum berries creating a lot of texture within the bouquet.

The groom wore a handsome boutonniere of white dendrobium orchids with loops of bearsgrass. The groomsmen fashioned boutonnieres of deep purple lisianthus florets with a tuck of burgundy spray rose and bells of Ireland cluster.

The couple was so fun to work and super creative!  We love working with fellow designers!

Eye Candy

Melissa and Will envisioned a vibrant tent reception on the Tippecanoe Grounds.  They choose the striking colors of hot pink and orange to dazzle the guests senses while they danced the night away!  The bold colors worked perfectly together at this Early July wedding.

Melissa's bouquet featured an impressive combination of brilliant orange asiatic lilies and vibrant queen pink dendrobium  orchids with touches of hot pink sweet william florets.  The sweet williams being an ode to her Sweet William =]

Williams boutonniere was so much fun to design!  The birds of paradise bloom was set off with hot pink freesia creating a unique and funky design that matched the feeling of the decor.

The Bridesmaids carried single orange asiatic lilies complimented with touches of greens.  The design was sweet and delicate against the striking colors of the decor.

The tent at Tippecanoe was the perfect setting for the couples colorful reception.  The bold hot pink and orange in the white tent looked great against the lush greens of the Mansion grounds.  The elegant white tent canopy that lined the ceiling along with MichaelAngelos crystal chandeliers added that special touch over the dance floor for the grooving guests.

The centerpieces were as fun and funky as the couple!  The short centerpiece concept featured dark pink hydrangeas and orange asiatic lilies in a clear glass with a hot pink ribbon wrap which played off the tables orange linen.  The tall concepts featured orange asiatic lilies with hot pink spiral twist branches extending from the clear glass vase that had a coordinating orange ribbon wrap.  This piece sat on tables with hot pink linens!  The centerpieces were complemented with candle light around them and by the newlyweds custom table numbers featuring album covers from their favorite bands!  Such a great idea!

Floral tucks of orange asiatic lilies and dark pink hydrangeas were fastened to the Bride and Grooms chairs to add an extra special touch for the couple at the reception!  The cake, provided by Carmela's at Macri's, was adorned with orange asiatic lilies throughout making it the focal point of the reception!

The couple was such a pleasure to work with as they had such creative ideas!  Thank you to Katie Whitcomb for the fantastic photos!

Simple Elegance

Chelsea and Matt picked the perfect venue, The Centre Meeting House in Niles, Mi for their romantic wedding.  The chapel provided an intimate setting with many elegant details brought in with the floral and decor.  Light pink, lavender and ivory accents were perfect in the all white chapel and played well off the greens from the surrounding forest.

Chelsea carried a stunning upright bouquet featuring deep pink hydrangea, light pink roses and touches of lavender tulips.  The bouquet was perfect next to her Vera Wang gown!!

For her three girls she choose to feature a single one of her flowers in each of their bouquets: One girl held an all-pink hydrangea bouquet, another held an all-pink rose bouquet, and the third held an all-lavender tulip bouquet.   Overall, the look was breathtaking as the girls stood next to Chelsea at the altar.

The ceremony itself was very intimate and featured a harpist who added the perfect touch to their romantic nuptials.  Lining the aisle and altar of the chapel were 80 cylinder vases with floating candles and rose petals scattered through-out!  When the lights were dimmed for the ceremony, the candlelight was breath-taking!  MichaelAngelos had the pleasure of coordinating the whole ceremony as well as the reception for Chelsea and Matt, allowing the couple and their families to enjoy the day and not have to worry about a thing!

The reception was held at the classy South Bend Country Club, the perfect ending to their wonderful day.  The club looked great with all the pink accents the couple used throughout their centerpieces and decor.  A gorgeous cake was made by Rascia's Creative Cakes and Chelsea's own rhinestone brooches were added to the knots of the bows to add that extra sparkle!

The couple were great to work with and you could really feel the love between both families.  It was a pleasure being able to not only design the floral and decor for the couple but to be the coordinators of their wedding as well.  Wishing them both the best!

Birds of a Feather Flock Together

Birds of a Feather
Flock Together

Feel like adding some funk to your wedding day?  Consider adding feathers to your floral and decor!!  Feathers can have such a striking impact when used in clusters, or just a single feather alone. They give an extra bit of flair to any floral arrangement, bouquet, boutonniere, and more!

Feathers come in a variety of choices and styles that can work for any wedding. When used in centerpieces, they can be added in with the floral giving your piece an extra textural detail as well as creating a more dimensional piece. Or, you can use only feathers as your centerpieces to really mesmerize your guests!

Feathers can also be used in floral bouquets or boutonnieres. They come in a variety of colors and patterns to correspond with your choice of floral. They also come in an assortment of textures, from full and plush, to compact and skinny. The different options give you ample opportunity to play with a wide range of designs and looks.

Kelly, a late June bride, wanted a classy bouquet of greens and creams using very textural elements.  We created this fabulous bouquet using kale, green and white cymbidium orchids, green succulents, variegated leaf loops, blue supernova thistle, and seeded grass tips.  Too complete the look, long wisps of skinny cream feathers were added!  One of our favorite bouquets of the season!

Our bride, Amber, did not like flowers at all so we suggested so use tones of green with feathers and curly willow to create a stunning bouquet without the flower feel.  Her design included green goddess calla lilies, green hypericum berries, ivory hydrangea, curly willow branches, orange parrot tulips, and various greens. Orange mokara orchids trailed down front of the cascade and tucks of ivory ostrich plumes accented it all.  Amber was truly astonished with the end look and was happy we created the natural look she was going for.
A recent Discovery Ballroom bride of ours, Natalie, also wasn't a huge fan of flowers so we recommended the next greatest thing to her...feathers!  To create the perfect backdrop to the nuptials, feathers were hung behind the couple using a clear wire which created the illusion of the feathers floating in mid-air.  To really add some extra sparkle, the feathers were accented with hanging crystals.  The look was brought together when the flower girl walked down the aisle and tossed feathers from her basket instead of flowers!

Dressing It Up

Dressing up a space can be accomplished through lighting, fabric treatments, arrangements, linens, etc. What about dressing up a plain white tent ceiling? For you late summer, early fall tent reception Brides, we have just the answer.

One option is to use fabric to create an intricate design over your guests heads. By adding color above, it creates a more inviting space for your reception, not to mention it's super fun because any color can be used to accent your wedding day decor! For our July bride, Mara, we even created a separate fabric treatment over her dance floor creating a romantic-vibe while still keeping it fun for dancing. We even tucked bulb lighting into the runs of fabric to create a soft glow as the sun went down!

Want to really add some color overhead? How about a variety of colorful paper lanterns! For Allison, we kept her cocktail tent decor bright and festive for the pre-reception drinks by hanging complimenting colors of orange and pink with yellow highlights at different heights throughout the tent. We used close to 160 lanterns for the entire 40x60 tent!! It made quite the impact and really got the party started!

Want something a little different than lanterns? How about Parasols!

Another great option for those more in touch with mother nature - vines of ivy with floral tucks intermixed in. The vines can weave through the center, around the outer perimeter of the tent, wrap around the poles, any pattern you want! We can even create custom shelves on the center tent poles for more foliage and floral to sit on. Consider hanging lanterns from the shelves like this bride did!

The most extreme of tent decor ceiling treatments is the tent liner which completely covers the entire span of the tent ceiling with a soft, billowy white fabric. The effect is absolutely breath-taking and really changes the whole feel of the tent. For this particular wedding we added bulb lighting and our huge wrought iron and crystal chandelier. The overall effect was outstanding and created the prefect vintage romance atmosphere our bride, Michelle, wanted.

Don't limit yourself to just one idea when it comes to creating your perfect tent atmosphere. Combining different design techniques only enhances the look! And, don't ever forget about lighting!! It always adds that extra punch of color that completes a look.

The Sweetest Spring Mix

Early this Spring MichaelAngelos had the pleasure of working with a young couple from Connecticut, Colleen and Kevin, who envisioned a pink and white Spring wedding to accent their Bridesmaids beautiful stormy blue dresses.

Colleen carried a stunning Spring inspired bouquet featuring her favorite flower, Sweet Pea! The Sweet Pea, a delicately beautiful flower and the perfect accent to her bouquet, proved a challenge to locate as it's peak season is November to March. But, we located them and they worked wonderfully along side the various shades of pink Peonies, pink Ranunculus, Lily of the Valley and a few touches of green! Creating the perfect finish to her bouquet was lace from her mother's Bridal gown that we used as a bouquet wrap, the perfect way to honor her mother.

The Bridesmaids accented Colleen's pink bouquet with all white bouquets of Sweet Pea, Lily of the Valley and white Peonies. Colleen loved the blue from her girls dresses so much she even had the bouquets wrapped using the same fabric!

The Beiger Mansion was the perfect location for Colleen and Kevin's Reception. The location provides a homey feel for it's guests while still maintaining the classy feel from an early 1900's mansion. The dance floor even turns into a nightclub complete with fog machines and disco balls! The couples centerpieces accented the old world decor of the Mansion wonderfully. The low arrangements consisted of Peonies, Ranunculus, Sweet Pea, Wax Flower, Tulips, Stock and ivory Hydrangea with bright greens designed in a gold mercury bowl.

The newlyweds beautiful Spring wedding was a perfect jump start to MichaelAngelos busy wedding season! We loved doing such wonderful designs that not only worked well in the Ceremony and Reception spaces, but that also complimented the couple's blooming personalities! Thank you Katie Whitcomb Photography for the awesome photographs!

As featured in the Summer edition of Veils & Vows Magazine, MichaelAngelos "The Event Company" is proud to present...

Shades of Blue

The team at MichaelAngelos was lucky enough to not only
design the floral and decor for the Veils & Vows shoot, but our very own Jessica Benko had the opportunity to be the model as well!! The shoot took place at Notre Dames South Dining Hall, a popular reception venue, which was transformed from cafeteria to a Hamptons-esque inspired Lounge!!

With blue as the color inspiration, the MichealAngelos crew was able to create a unique atmosphere using our custom shelving unit and bar which were back lit with blue LEDs. Our white leather lounge furniture also made an appearance adding the perfect Hampton touch to the Hall. Accenting our decor were some great pieces by our talented floral designers. Bears Grass, blue Stock, Thistle and Hydrangea looked great with our lanterns, white vases and was highlighted by candle light on the shelving unit.

Jessica's stunning bouquet featured Grape Hyacinth, Blue Delphinium, Hydrangea and Dusty Miller. The cute-pa-tootie flower girl, Myah, wore a darling flower halo of Grape Hyacinth, Hellebore and Dusty Miller. Completing her look was a fun flower wand designed with the same floral as her halo and complementary ribbon tails. Together with her green dress and large blue bow, the look was truly adorable.

Hellebore, Coral Fern, and Blue Hydrangea made up the centerpieces which created a tantalizing look to the tablescape. Matthew Whitlock Photography did a fantastic job showcasing the decor, floral, gown and the amazing venue!! A big thank you to all of the fabulous vendors who helped make the day BEAUTIFUL!!
